Hello! My name is Kassidy Stewart and I am Miss Teenage BC. I am 16 years old from Comox, British Columbia on Vancouver Island. A little about me: I was born in Victoria BC and my family and I moved to Comox (about 3 hours north of Victoria) when I was one. I live with my parents and my 19 year old sister (who is my best friend), and I have two little dogs that I adore! I attend Highland Secondary School and am going into my grade eleven year this fall.

Soccer is the sport that my family has been playing and loving for generations. I started playing when I was 4 and have been playing ever since. I now play for our U18 competitive select team.

I also love musical theatre! I have been participating in at least one production a year since I was 6. Musical theatre has taught me how to express myself in so many ways and has made me the confident person I am today!

Singing has always been a passion for me, along with playing guitar. I’ve been playing

guitar since I was 8 years old and I occasionally perform at local venues with a band called “Easy Street”.

Recently I have started writing my own songs and I am hoping to soon have a enough for an album!

My platform is raising awareness for the homeless and less fortunate. I chose this platform because I want to do what I can to help the people in need, not only in my community but across Canada. When I was younger my Mom was ill, and at that time our community supported us and brought us home cooked meals everyday. So many people went out of their way to make this time a little easier for our family. That’s when I realized how important community was and I experienced what it was like to receive the love and generosity of others. I decided that I wanted to do whatever I can for those in need to make their lives and whatever they may be going through a little bit easier. I volunteer with our community Christmas hamper program and recently have started to help with the Soup and Sandwich Kitchen at Northgate Church in our community. I enjoy prepping food, cooking, serving and cleaning up.  Prior to Covid-19 I used to enjoy sitting down with those we serve; talking with them, listening to their stories and getting to know them. I’ve met some very nice people and the most adorable kids!

I hope to be able to travel and help with the less fortunate in different parts of Canada and the world as well. I would like to help build shelters or start recovery groups to help them get back on their feet! My title as Miss Teenage BC will definitely help my chances of making this possible and if I won Miss Teenage Canada that would open a whole other door for me to accomplish these goals!

This pageant and winning the title of Miss Teenage BC has been one of the best things that has happened to me because it has built my confidence, allowed me to meet so many new amazing friends from all over Canada, taught me important skills that I wouldn’t have learned anywhere else, allowed me to be able to give young woman that may struggle with anxiety hope, and given me opportunities to do promote and reach people with my platform.

Thank you so much for reading, stay tuned for more blogs coming out soon about the Miss Teenage Canada 2020 Pageant week!!!
